Silent Auction for SPAN

Jing Ying Institute of Kung Fu & Tai Chi (www.jingying.org), will be holding their 9th annual Holiday Party and Silent Auction on Friday, December 14, 2012, 7-9pm. The fundraiser supports SPAN, Inc. (www.SPANhelps.org ). SPAN provides financial assistance, food and referral services to those in crisis in central Anne Arundel County. Jing Ying students have long been active in the local community, and Jing Ying encourages its members to support local businesses and local charities. This event was established as a way to do both.

Jing Ying's silent auction is a bit unusual since it runs from the end of October until mid-December. The donated items are displayed for nearly two months, allowing plenty of time for viewing. This allows optimal bidding opportunities, and local businesses who donate their items get lots of exposure. Jing Ying also list the donors on their web site and provide long term links to their web sites as provided.

Many of the items are unique and hand-crafted, ranging from jewelry to books by local authors, and gift certificates for a variety of services such as tai chi, massage, yoga, qigong, chiropractic treatments, home organization, tutoring, and more. Visit www.JingYing.org for a listing and photos.

The auction closes on Friday, December 14 during the annual Holiday Party, which will be held from 7-9pm. The auction starts finalizing at 8:30pm. There will also be door prizes, free giveaways, music and food. The event is free and open to the public, but donations of non-perishable food for SPAN's food pantry are welcome.

Jing Ying is still accepting donations of all sizes. Please donate to this important cause! The majority of SPAN funds provide financial assistance in three areas: court-ordered evictions, utility turn-off notices and emergency medical or prescription needs. More people than ever need the support of organizations like SPAN.
