AACC Announces August, Back-To-School Events

Several events are scheduled throughout the month of August, including orientation for new students.

Aug. 9—7 p.m. Chesapeake Civil War Roundtable, Matt Atkinson, a historian and one of the founders of Civil War Excursion Tours, will lead a discussion on the Battle of Shiloh, 1862; Cade Center for Fine Arts Room 219, AACC Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway; free; 410-777-2428.

Aug. 11—8:30-10:30 p.m. Stargazing, “Community Observing Night,” family event sponsored by the AACC Astronomy Club; club meeting 7:30 p.m. open to the public followed one hour after sunset by stargazing, bring your own telescope and binoculars or use one of the eight AACC telescopes to view planets, stars and moon, weather permitting; park in the back of Arnold Lots A and B beside Resource Management Building, AACC Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway; free; 410-777-2260 (regular business hours), 410-777-1820 (weather line).

Aug. 30—8:30 a.m. Golf tournament; the Anne Arundel Community College Foundation Inc. is teaming up with Arundel Federal Savings Bank for the 2012 Arundel Federal Savings Bank 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Compass Point Golf Course in Pasadena; a portion of the proceeds benefit the AACC academic programs; information about corporate sponsorships and costs for individuals and foursomes available at www.aacc.edu/foundation and registration is available online at https://co.clickandpledge.com/sp/d2/default.aspx?wid=36068.
