Alan Pastrana, a longtime fixture at Anne Arundel Community College, attended a retirement party in his honor recently at Deep Creek Restaurant.
Pastrana had been at AACC since 1970. The year before, he played professional football for the Denver Broncos, but his career was cut short by a knee injury, according to a press release from the college.
He went on to coach football for 20 years and lacrosse for 32 years at AACC in Arnold. He retired in June after 40 years of service as a teacher, coach and mentor to AACC students and athletes, according to the release.
In May, Pastrana was inducted into the community college's Pioneer Athletic Hall of Fame.
On Aug. 14, Pastrana was honored at a retirement party hosted by faculty and friends from AACC. He formally turned in his keys and ended his long service to the community.
