'Alice in Wonderland' Heads to Children's Theatre of Annapolis

The new play is set to premiere in April and features young talent from across Maryland.

Follow Alice further down the rabbit hole in the ' (CTA) newest musical, Disney's Alice in Wonderland Jr., premiering in April. 

The script is based on Lewis Carroll's classics, The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. The play is directed by a veteran CTA member Dylan Roche, who returns to the stage this year after being away for 10 years, according to a release.

Roche selected three girls to portray the part of Alice through three stages of her development. Emily Small will play small Alice, Chrissy Scott will play medium Alice and Ella Green will play large Alice.

"[This will] maximize the effect of Alice shrinking and growing as she drinks from a bottle and eats a cookie at the advice of the Door Knob, [played by] A.J. Williams," according to a release.

The show also features Gabe Needle as the White Rabbit, Katie Garrity as Tweedle Dee, Camille White as TweedleDum, Ally Baca as the Caterpillar, Madison Ouellette as the Queen of Hearts, Clifford Jamieson as the Mad Hatter and many other characters from the books.

The show's music will be directed by Laura Tayman of Annapolis and will be choreographed by Jason Kimmell.

Alice in Wonderland Jr. will be performed on April 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. and April 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 2 p.m. at the Children's Theatre of Annapolis, located at 1661 Bay Head Rd. in Annapolis.

An American Sign Language Interpretation of the show will be provided at 2 p.m. on April 14. 

Tickets are $15, $12 for children 12 and younger, and adults 60 and older.  Group rates are available for 10 or more attending the same show.

Alice is the third and final play of CTA's 2011-2012 season, which also included The Witches: A Tribute to Roald Dahl, and Grease: The School Version.
