Annapolis Santa Run Tours Broadneck
Local fire engines transported Santa and his helpers around Broadneck on Sunday to collect gifts for needy children.
Santa made his way around the Broadneck area on Sunday riding in a fire engine as part of the Annapolis Santa Run. The annual toy drive Sunday evening was a decidely different event from last year.
"Murphy was really against us last year," organizer John Muhitch said in reference to Murphy's law. "If it could have gone wrong, it did."
Last year, it poured down rain. Two fire trucks broke down during the run and another two got stuck in mud, he said.
But this year, it was reportedly a great success.
"It was a very good night for everyone," Muhitch said.
The toy drive, sponsored by Annapolis Firefighters Local 1926, collects gifts from visitors and then works with several area agencies to fulfill Christmas wish lists for needy families. Muhitch said next weekend a group of volunteers, including area high school students, will sort through the gifts and prepare them for each family.

It is good to give back to the community, and the fire department should not let their unlucky year get in the way of their charity efforts. They way they put on the santa suits to give presents to kids is just wonderful. - http://www.realsantasuits.com
