Olivia's photograph “No Color” won first place in the Social Change category of the DC FotoWeek Youth Photo Contest.

Olivia Leigh, a first-grade student at Arnold Christian Academy, recently received high honors in the 2011 DC FotoWeek Youth Photo Contest during an awards ceremony in Adams Morgan in Washington, DC.

Nearly 700 students in kindergarten through grade 12 entered more than 2,500 photographs, according to Olivia's mother, Laura Leigh.

Olivia's photograph “No Color” won first place in the Social Change category. Her idea was to create an image showing her idea of "diversity" using kindergarten and first-grade students from Arnold Christian Academy.

Winning photographs will be exhibited at FotoWeek Central located at 18th and L streets in Washington, DC, from Nov. 5 to 12.
