Arnold Safeway Launches Gas Rewards Program with Exxon/Mobil

For every $1 spent, customers receive one point. Every 100 points can be redeemed for 10 cents off per gallon at the pump.

It's time to put all those trips to Safeway to use at the pump.

The Arnold location of the supermarket chain launched a gas rewards program for Exxon/Mobil gas stations on Wednesday. Customers will now accumulate points with each purchase, and can use them for gas discounts, between 10 cents to $1 off each gallon.

For every $1 spent, customers receive one point. Every 100 points can be redeemed for 10 cents off per gallon at the pump. The discount program is similar to the one Giant supermarket uses with Shell gas stations, but it is the first rewards program of its kind for Arnold residents.

Purchases made within 24 hours won't be reflected in your points. Customers can visit the Exxon across from Safeway on Church Road in Arnold, or the two locations on West Street, and can accumulate points at any Safeway, a store representative said.

So disappointed in Arnold Safeway that I have stopped going there. Most of the time the item or items I want are out of stock, or they tell me they have decided not to carry it anymore. I usually find an empty shelf where they belong. They also do not reorder or restock in a timely manner. I can go back the next day and they are still out. When they first opened I was really encouraged. They carried all the things I cook with and more. Now they are back to the kind of store they were before they remodeled. I don't know if this is typical of all Safeway's, but this store needs to be revamped again. They have a huge area for fresh vegetables and fruit. I think it is too big for this area, for most of the time the fruit is bad and does not last and the vegetables often are on the verge of being bad. Soft to the touch when they should be firm. I hate going to 2 stores when I shop, just because they are out of the items I want. They ask at the cash register if I found what I wanted. I always have to tell them no. They just nod their head. I have emailed the store about this. Did not even get a response. I have put this in survey's they sent me. No change. So I am back to Giants.

I also 100% agree! The place is poorly managed, and it's also FILTHY!
I view it as a convience store...that's all.

Your right about that too. Don't buy their packaged fruit (strawberries, blackberries) - hidden mold on the bottom row where you cannot see it. I was always throwing away most of the package. Same with oranges or apples in a package, many bad in the bags. There is not enough turnover, probably because the store is so poorly managed. I wonder why the health dept hasn't been in there either. I saw someone behind the special meat counter handling food without gloves. We need a grocery store here in this area badly. Wonder how we can get them to clean up their act.

The store is poorly managed. So many young people and they do not care.
