The summer is winding down, and for athletes that means one thing—fall sports.
The start of the fall season is nearly upon us, with tryouts for Broadneck High School sports starting on Saturday morning.
BHS Athletics Director Ken Kazmarek said it's an exciting time for students in an area that's so dedicated to sports.
"For many, this is the most exciting time of the year," Kazmarek said. "There's a real buzz at the beginning of the year for athlete tryouts."
Kazmarek said about 500 athletes are expected to arrive at BHS for tryouts. The sports include golf, football, cheerleading, volleyball, boys and girls soccer, cross country, field hockey, and unified tennis.
"They're all cranking up and ready to start," he said.
The BHS campus will soon be busy with warm-up drills, practice games, intense fitness training and a lot of very competitive and anxious athletes.
Meet the coaches night is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. Aug. 23.
