Centrowitz Craves Record-Breaking Mile Run at Millrose

The 106th Millrose Games in New York City's Armory is one of the largest indoor track meets in the country.

Broadneck's Olympic running sensation Matthew Centrowitz recently told Supersport.com that he's prepared and confident about the upcoming meet. The Millrose Games begin Feb. 16 in New York.

According to Runnersworld, Centrowitz has told race organizers that he wants to beat the current mile run record, set by Bernard Lagat in 2005, of 3:52.87. When Centrowitz ran at the Armory in 2011 during the IAFF World Championships, he set a time of 3:53.92.

But since then, he's earned experience in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. 

Centrowitz narrowly missed a bronze medal in the men's 1,500 meter Olympic final, and has been touring meets across the world ever since. He recently placed third in the Five Nations meet in Glasgow, UK on Saturday. 

Centrowitz is a Broadneck High School graduate, with family still in Arnold. Centrowitz lives and trains in Portland, OR.
