CVS Proposed at Furniture Solution Location

A public meeting is scheduled for July 11 at the Arnold Volunteer Fire Department to give the public additional information on the proposal.

Plans are in the works for a new CVS Pharmacy to be located at 1500 Ritchie Hwy. in Arnold, where Furniture Solution is currently located.

The county's Office of Planning and Zoning gave notice this week of a meeting to discuss preliminary plans for the convenience store and pharmacy with the public.

Furniture Solution manager Gerard Kvasnovsky told Patch that he did not know about the proposed CVS.

During the county's comprehensive rezoning process last year, Shaivitz, LLC sought a zoning change for the property, but it was ultimately denied.

The developer for the CVS proposal, JC BAR Properties, Inc., has scheduled an informational meeting in July to give the public more information on the project. Representatives from the developer and the county's planning offices will be in attendance.

The meeting will be at the Arnold Volunteer Fire Department at 6:30 p.m. on July 11.

Written comments may be submitted to the county by sending a letter to Anne Arundel County Office of Planning and Zoning, 2664 Riva Rd., Annapolis, MD 21401.

I would welcome a CVS. Many have Caremark prescription plans that can be filled at a CVS rather than having to mail in. Currently there isn't a convenient CVS option.

There are so many small, local pharmacies in the area, as well as a CVS right over the Severna Park line (literally a couple miles from this proposed area), a CVS off Riva road (6 miles from Arnold), as well as many other large chain pharmacies in the area. My insurance has the CVS Caremark prescription plan, but that doesn't mean you have to use a CVS...it's "preferred" but not mandatory. I've had some pretty bad mix-up and privacy problems at the CVSs in the local area, so I'm sticking with Park Pharmacy and Arnold Pharmacy!

I love the local Arnold Professional Pharmacy. The give individual attention, fill prescriptions quickly, give consultations, shots and are very personal. I would hate to see CVS come to Arnold. There are so many so close. Why put more people out of business. Safeway also has a pharmacy. Rite Aide is just north a bit. That traffic light is long long long. There is so much traffic on that highway right there during rush hours that it backs up. Do we really need a big store there now? Much more traffic trying to get in and out. I am against it. Give us a break. We will creep along Ritchie Hwy. Are they going to widen the roads and give us a 3rd lane there just so they can build this CVS. Enough is enough.
