Get Out: Weekend of Sept. 16 to 18

The Broadneck area hosts a variety of events this weekend such as an outdoor movie, a kids carnival and a cleanup effort at Sandy Point State Park—plus, the Anne Arundel County Fair is this weekend.

 

Fall weather has arrived a little early this weekend but don't let that stop you from getting out in Broadneck and checking out the county fair in Crownsville.

Anne Arundel County Fair

When/Where: All weekend (see schedule of fair events online) on Sept. 16 from 4 to 11 p.m., Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds located at 1450 Generals Highway in Crownsville

Why go? The county fair features live animals, contests, performances, games and much more.

Pricing: $6 for ages 16 and older, $4 for ages 8 to 15 and free for ages 7 and younger

Movies Under the Stars

When/Where: Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cade Center for Fine Arts amphitheater at Anne Arundel Community College

Why go? It's fun to watch movies outside on lawn chairs and blankets (bring your own). There will be a food vendor on site. Alcohol, pets and smoking are not allowed. In the event of inclement weather, the show will be moved to Jenkins Gymnasium.

Pricing: Tickets available at the gate: $7 general admission, $5 for youth under 12 and students with valid AACC student ID and $6 for AACC faculty and staff

NHC Annual Kids Carnival

When/Where: Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at New Hope Chapel (NHC)

Why go? There will be games, prizes and food—plus everything is free and appropriate for children of all ages.

Pricing: Free

Goshen Farm Open House

When/Where: Sept. 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Goshen Farm located at 1420-1422 Cape St. Claire Rd. in Annapolis

Why go? See the progress made on the restoration and learn about future plans for the property.

Pricing: Free (there will be some items available for sale, including memberships in the Goshen Farm Preservation Society)

Debris Cleanup at Sandy Point State Park

When/Where: Sept. 17 and 18 at Sandy Point State Park

Why go? Help clean up the debris that has washed up on the shore! If you can help, please call the park at 410-974-2149 or email Ranger Woodfield at awoodfield@dnr.state.md.us. Volunteers should bring work gloves and plenty of water. Park will provide all other supplies.
