Get Out: Weekend of Sept. 23 to 25

The Broadneck area hosts a variety of events this weekend such as a fundraiser with a Crofton musician and stargazing at Anne Arundel Community College.

 

Get out this weekend to enjoy activities at Anne Arundel Community College, a recycle day and a fire station celebration in Arnold—plus, Hospice Cup XXX on Saturday.

Local Musician Hosts Fundraiser

When/Where: Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. at the Robert E. Kauffman Theater in the Pascal Center for Performing Arts of Anne Arundel Community College (AACC)

Why go? David Tieff, a musician from Crofton, will tell his life story through word, song and digital images while playing acoustic guitar.  The title of the show is “An Addict’s Song,” and it is a fundraising event co-sponsored by the AACC Substance Abuse Education office and the student club BACCHUS (Boosting Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students). This show is suitable for ages 18 and up due to adult themes and language.

Pricing: $15, tickets can be purchased at the box office or in Student Union Room 202. 

Book Recycle Day

When/Where: Sept. 24 at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Arnold Christian Academy 

Why go? Here is your opportunity to clean up off your bookshelves and donate books to be recycled. Plus, get free raffle tickets for dropping off books!

Pricing: Free

Hospice Cup XXX

When/Where: Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. on the Chesapeake Bay (Shore Party will be held at Annapolis Sailing School on Back Creek)

Why go? Hospice Cup is a charity sailing regatta, which raises funds for hospice programs throughout our region. Sailors may choose between a competitive, high-point earning race or a more relaxed, non-spinnaker race. After the race, head over the Shore Party.

Pricing: Donations encouraged and auction will take place at Shore Party

Stargazing: Community Observing Night

When/Where: Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Astronomy Lab in rear of lots A and B, beside the Resource Management Building at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC)

Why go? This family event is sponsored by the AACC Astronomy Club after their meetings (that are open to the public). Participants can bring their own telescope and binoculars or use one of the eight AACC telescopes to view planets, stars and moon. Note that this event is held weather permitting.

Celebration at the Arnold Volunteer Fire Station

When/Where: Sept. 25 at noon at Arnold Volunteer Fire Department

Why go? Family fun will include a moon bounce, games, giveaways, obstacle course, fire house tours and more!
