Golf Tournament This Weekend to Benefit Broadneck Park

The tournament will raise money for a renovation of the park's playground.

The Friends of Broadneck Park is hosting a team-based golf tournament at Bay Hills Golf Club in Arnold on Saturday.

Teams of four will compete in an 18-hole tournament with some massive prizes for those who can score a hole-in-one.

There are three par 4 holes at Bay Hills, with prizes for anyone who can sink a ball with one shot. The grand prize is a Lexus from Sheehy Lexus of Annapolis, another is $10,000 from Tom Massie of First Command Financial, and in the final prize, the winner can pick from either a Kindle Fire, a $500 Visa gift card, or a set of Cleveland XG16 Black Pearl Irons.

All participants will score a set of prizes, including vouchers for a free golf club. A series of mulligan cards has already been prepared for players who goof up on one hole.

The tournament is being organized by Kara McGuirk-Allison, who has been spearheading a variety of events dedicated to raising money for new equipment at Broadneck Park's playground.

"Our goal is to improve the aging playground at Broadneck Park, located on College Parkway, Annapolis. We hope to provide new equipment for children ages 2-12 and make the playground accessible to children of all abilities," McGuirk-Allison said in a press release.

In April, she hosted Broadneck's first-ever kite festival. In July she hosted a Touch-a-Truck event that brought hundreds of kids to the park.
