Man Arrested for Threatening Patrons in Annapolis Theater

Kyle Nolan Tanner, 25, reportedly began swearing at moviegoers and simulated that he had a gun before being arrested by Anne Arundel County police Wednesday.

Moviegoers fled a theater at the Bow Tie Cinemas at the Annapolis Harbour Center after a man started swearing and pretending to point a gun at patrons Wednesday afternoon.

Anne Arundel County police reported that Kyle Nolan Tanner, 25, entered the theater while a movie was playing, sat down in the front row and shouting expletives toward the screen and the people in the theater.

Numerous witnesses reported that Tanner left the theater twice. When he returned for a final time, witnesses said he pointed at people in the audience simulating that he had a gun. He also reportedly continued to swear at people.

Moviegoers ran out of the theater and called the police. Tanner also fled.

He was found in minutes near the intersection of Old Solomons Island Road and Forest Drive and taken into custody.

Nolan is charged with disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and second-degree assault. He being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Annapolis on a no bail status with a bail review scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is continuing to consult with the State’s Attorney’s Office to determine the appropriateness of the charges; however, no additional charges are anticipated at this time.

The guy is most likely mentally ill. Everyone carrying a gun isn't going to guarntee that things like this won't happen. We need to increase funding for mental illness - treatment and prevention. Right now our police and FF are the ones making first contact with mentally ill people, and even they don't always have the training to deal with mentally ill people (b/c of a lack of funding for training). Mental hospitals and outpatient services are dealing with funding cutbacks and can barely manage their current case loads now much less help new patients. Oh, but they are gov't, so let's cut their spending. Thanks Tea Party.

Shooting at everything that scares you isn't going to solve a damn thing. Watch out for your shadow.

If we had the billions Obama gave away, we would have funds to help the mentally challenged! Tea Party had nothing to do with that issue.....

We didn't use those funds previously to help the mentally challenged, what makes you think it would have been different with a different President. Your comment indicates you might be mentally challenged as well. Blaming Obama for everything wrong in the world is pathetic. He has his faults, like every other President, but we had these problems before his administration and we'll continue to have them in subsequent ones.

Well if he's mentally ill and homeless, he may finally be granted the assistance he needs. Thank goodness nobody was injured, although I can only imagine the fear others around him may have felt. My question is how did it go on so long? I would have freaked and been dialing 911 after the first time he acted weird.
