After both the JV and varsity Broadneck Bruins beat the Chesapeake Cougars on Friday night, many students headed to the event sponsored by Fifth Quarter. The goal of the events is to provide a safe alternative to after-game parties where students may encounter drugs or alcohol. Although it's usually held at Broadneck Park, it was moved this week to Broadneck Evangelical Presbyterian Church when the park was reportedly closed.

The change in location was not due to the incident that occurred last week where two Broadneck High students were assaulted and robbed. Organizers for the event have more than 100 parent volunteers and off-duty county police officers to help with security at each event. Volunteers typically greet parents and invite them to stay, in addition to patrolling the park with flashlights to make sure kids stay in lighted areas and do not loiter in parking lots.
