Martial artists taught locals a few ways to defend against a zombie invasion.
Kids and adults were transformed into flesh-craving zombies during an exercise at Jing Ying Institute in Arnold this weekend.
Jing Ying owner Billy Greer hosted the zombie-themed workshop on Saturday as a way to have some fun and also teach some self-defense tips in case there's ever a zombie invasion.
Students learned how to prepare for an apocalyptic situation, how to avoid zombie encounters and the best way to take out a zombie while minimizing risk to themselves.
Of course, the self-defense lessons taught weren't only applicable to zombie encounters.
"You will get good information that will help you prepare for most disaster/emergency situations, and you will learn practical self-defense techniques that are effective against any attacker, not just zombies," Greer said before the event.
The zombie workshop had been scheduled for a few weeks earlier, but the derecho storm put things on hold, Greer said.
A second "Self Defense for the Coming Zombie Apocalypse" workshop is scheduled for Oct. 6, Greer said.
