Poll Results: Most Want New CVS
Sixty-six percent of readers voted in favor of a new CVS being located in Arnold.
A new CVS Pharmacy is proposed at 1500 Ritchie Highway where the Furniture Solution is currently.
When polled, most Patch readers indicated they wanted the business in town.
Patch asked: Does Broadneck Need a CVS? And here are the results:
- Yes 35 (66%)
- No 18 (33%)
Total votes: 53
The developer for the CVS proposal, JC BAR Properties Inc., has scheduled an informational meeting on Wednesday to give the public more information on the project. Representatives from the developer and the county's planning offices will be in attendance.
The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Arnold Volunteer Fire Department.
News spread about the proposal late last week after Arnold Preservation Council President Elizabeth Rosborg sent invitations to the public for the Wednesday meeting. She also was seeking public input on the proposal.
Rosborg told The Capital that some were in favor of the new pharmacy, saying it would bring additional jobs, but most seemed against the CVS, saying it could increase traffic at a critical intersection along Ritchie Highway in Arnold.
The Furniture Solution is still open for business, and store owner Gerard Kvasnovsky told Patch he did not know about the proposed CVS.
Would a new CVS be good or bad for Arnold? Let me know what you think in the comments.

Just what we need, more traffic congestion. If a new store has to go in there, we would be better served with a hardware store. There are three full service 'drug stores' within a 5-10 minute drive from that intersection, but the nearest hardware store is in Severna Park. Let's not forget also the fine pharmacy services already provided by the Arnold Professional Pharmacy 200 yards behind that location and in the Safeway across the street.
A CVS there just seems like an answer to a problem that doesn't exist.

If CVS is replacing the business that it there now then there will not be a major change in the traffic, if a new building is going up then I am against it. Also why not protect the two pharmacies that are there already, Safeway and the Arnold Pharmacy. The area does not need another pharmacy.

There are 3 hardware stores and 84 Lumber within 5-10 minutes of this location. Another hardware store would not survive.
