Preservation Council Lauds Asbury UMC

Church is recognized for its restoration efforts on Church Road.

If you ever drive through Church Road, you see the lovely white chapel sitting on the hill before the turn to Arnold Elementary School. It’s a beautiful site, and the Arnold Preservation Council recently thanked Asbury United Methodist Church officials for their efforts to preserve that setting for local residents.

Established in 1859, the church has been active in community life on the Broadneck Peninsula for more than 150 years.

The original church structure that forms the nave of the historic sanctuary was built in 1888. In 2003, the historic sanctuary was completely renovated and major parking expansion and site improvements were made in 2007.
