Some in Broadneck Still Without Power
BGE said restoration efforts continue, though the vast majority of customers should have power back by Friday.
Power to most of BGE's service areas has been restored, however the Broadneck peninsula was hammered by Sandy the worst in Anne Arundel County in terms of power outages.
According to BGE's outages report, 2,380 customers in Anne Arundel County are still without power, with the highest concentration of outages in Arnold. Judging by the outage map available at BGE's website, the Arnold area still has a few hundred customers without power.
More than 92,000 BGE customers had their power restored by crews after Hurricane Sandy swept through the Northeast.
Power was restored Thursday to Severn River Middle and Magothy River Middle schools in Arnold, according to a release from Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Students there have been out of school since the week began, but will return on Friday.
With approximately 95 percent of its customers restored, the company has been working on restoring secondary lines to provide service to its remaining customers. Representatives with BGE said the vast majority of its customers will have power restored by late Friday, with some isolated outages continuing into the weekend.
“While a tremendous amount of progress has been made, we remain focused on restoring service to all of our customers who lost power as a result of Hurricane Sandy,” said Jeannette M. Mills, vice president and chief customer officer for BGE, in a press release.
