Viewfinder: Otto the Auto Visits Broadneck Library

Courtesy of the Mid-Atlantic AAA, this special talking car made quite an impression on local kids this week.

The magic continues at the Broadneck Library this summer. This week, “Otto the Auto” made a special visit and younger children had a lot of fun with the talking car’s important safety lessons.

The event was sponsored by the library and the Mid-Atlantic AAA Foundation for Safety and Education.

“Otto," standing three feet tall, is a remote-controlled talking car that engages children in fun and memorable traffic safety exercises. With the help of AAA staff, Otto interacted with the fascinated participants both verbally and through animated reactions that had kids laughing and learning at the same time.

"Otto" stressed the importance of buckling seat belts, sitting in child safety seats, wearing bicycle helmets and looking all ways before crossing the street, just in time for the start of school.
