Members of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company took part in the 2011 Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park.

Thousands of people descended on Sandy Point State Park on Friday and Saturday for the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge.

Hundreds of students took part in the "Frigid Friday" festivities, then a huge crowd took a dip in the icy waters on Saturday for the official Polar Bear Plunge.

The event is one of the top fundraisers for Special Olympics Maryland.

Students in Anne Arundel County set a goal to raise more than $250,000, while other teams from around the state were agressively collecting funds as well.

If you took part in the chilly event and took photos, upload them here!
