The Fifth Annual Santa Speedo Run and Toy Drive will be held Saturday, December 15th, beginning and ending in the parking lot of Stan and Joe’s on West Street in Annapolis. This event has become a holiday tradition in Annapolis. Despite cold temperatures, over 150 runners came out last year to support the local cause.
The one mile jog/fun run through downtown city dock, is the brainchild of Eddie McGowan, local Annapolitan and member of the Rovers. According to Eddie, “the mission of the Annapolis Santa Speedo Run is to spread holiday cheer while at the same time collecting toys and books for needy children in our community. There is such a need right here in our own backyard, this is just one way we can all help.”
Last year the event collected and distributed over 750 toys and books. This year, toys and books will be accepted at Stan and Joe’s beginning at 11am. Registration and libations begin at 12 Noon.
Spectators are welcome, actually encouraged, to line the sidewalks to cheer on the festive participants, sing Christmas carols and support the cause. Strip down begins at 1:30pm, with the jog/stroll beginning promptly at 1:45pm.
The Speedo Run Post Party will feature live music from the Rovers and Sly45 under a heated tent in the parking lot of Stan and Joe’s. This year spectators will be asked to make a $5 donation to enter the tent.
As a participant, a Speedo-like bathing suit is required (two piece bathing suit if possible but not mandatory for women). Holiday colors are preferred, and please no thongs! Santa hats, beards, stockings and other holiday panache is recommended. The number of participants is limited so be sure to register online prior to the event and bring your registration email with you.

More About Stan and Joe's Saloon
Stan and Joe's Saloon is a popular local bar and restaurant. Emerging from a dream of two local bartenders, Stan and Joe's Saloon opened in January 2007 and has rapidly become a fixture on West Street, known for its fun atmosphere and delicious food. Live music is featured nightly without a cover charge. Stan and Joe's also offers a Wine Club membership. For a more sophisticated atmosphere, head to The Lounge upstairs, which offers a cheese selection, wine list, appetizers and paninis. The Lounge is the only official Grand Marnier Club in Annapolis.
