For Adults:  Are you an adult who likes to work with youth, share your knowledge and teach youth personal responsibility, planning, preparation and leadership. Do you have a "bucket list" to learn new outdoor skills such as backpacking, hiking, kayaking, sailing or whitewater rafting, but don’t know where to start?

Venture Crew 396 is a community service organization for young women and young men, ages 14 (already in eighth grade) through 20 who love the outdoors and adventure.

Venturing is the COED arm of the Boy Scouts of America and is open for both young women and young men.     Adults advisors are trained to serve as advisors, mentors, outdoor skills instructors and as safety observers. Prior outdoor skills, knowledge and experience is NOT a requirement to join.   Training is provided.

Youth protection is taken very seriously.  All adult advisors are required to complete youth protection training and background checks.

·     High adventure activities serve as the vehicles through which young adults learn the value of planning/preparation, team building, self confidence, self reliance and community service.

·

·     Typical Venture Crew activities include rock climbing and rappelling,  backpacking, day hiking, skiing, sailing, biking, scuba diving and caving. The crew raises funds for these activities during the year by periodically selling concessions at Naval Academy sporting events.

Planning meetings, are held 6:00-7:30 pm every 1st and 3rd Sundays at Trinity United Methodist Church on West St.

The crew is non-denominational and all are welcome to join irrespective of religious affiliation.
