3,000 Gallons of Sewage Leak in Arnold

None of the sewage leaked into nearby creeks, a Health Department spokeswoman said.

A pumping station in Arnold leaked more than 3,000 gallons of sewage on Thursday, a county Health Department spokeswoman said.

Anne Arundel County public works crews vacuumed up 3,180 gallons of sewage after it spilled from the nearby Twin Harbors IV pumping station, at the 300 block of Peninsula Farm Road.

Elin Jones with the County Health Department said none of the wastewater made contact with Dividing Creek, which is near the pumping station. Jones said the pumping failure was due to a mechanical failure—a split in the force main.
