Another Day, Another 'Jeopardy!' Win for Jay Rhee

Cape resident Jay Rhee is now a two-time champion.

Cape St. Claire resident Jay Rhee continued his success on Jeopardy!, winning another game that aired on Tuesday evening.

Rhee added $21,601 to his winnings Tuesday night, making his two-day total more than $45,000.

His competitors Tuesday night included Scott Goldstein, a comedy writer/director for Second City based out of Chicago, and Julianna Suchard, a homemaker and community volunteer from California.

Rhee started the game strong, scoring in a variety of categories including, “Team Players,” “'Ghoul'-lash," “South American Geography,” and “State the Senator.”

Goldstein and Suchard both scored well in the Double Jeopardy round, leaving the final outcome in doubt leading up to Final Jeopardy. Goldstein nearly ran the table on a category where players had to identify the “U” in various acronyms.

His one mistake was failing to state the correct answer “underwater” in the required question format of the show. Rhee quickly followed with the correct response of “What is underwater?” to earn the cash.

With a large lead, Rhee used some good strategy in betting low in the two “Daily Doubles” and keeping a comfortable distance from his competitors.

All three contestants answered the Final Jeopardy question, correctly identifying a kind of dog with an “alliterative of a former African nation.” (Answer: Rhodesian Ridgeback.) Rhee bet just enough to beat second place Goldstein by $2 and earn a third night back on the program.

He will appear on Wednesday night's program airing at 7 p.m. and WMAR.
