Are Edmonds Dog Owners Doing a Good Job Picking Up Dog Poop?

Edmonds is a generally dog-friendly city; how do dog owners here rate as far as picking up after their pets?

Edmonds is known to be a generally pet-friendly city, especially when it comes to the canine variety.

People can be seen throughout the city walking their dogs and dog owners here started a non-profit, Off-Leash Area Edmonds, (olae.org) which supports dog owners with an dog park south of Marina Beach on Admiral Way. Many vets also call Edmonds home.

With all these dogs around, are Edmonds dog owners responsible or not when it comes to picking up after their dogs when they poo?

What about in your neighborhood?

Are Edmonds dog owners doing a good job picking up after their pets and are they better than dog owners in other places? Or is there room for improvement in being good pet owners and neighbors?

I live in Downtown Edmonds and routinely find dog poo on the sidewalks. It is gross. Pick you your poo (no matter what kind of animal you own).

Generally, Edmonds is a dog friendly town, but not as good as some. There are too many restrictions on where dogs are allowed. Truly dog friendly towns have no restrictions as long as the dog is on leash. It is bad dog owners that should be restricted.

First, I am disconcerted to think anyone thinks Edmonds is dog friendly. Dogs are not allowed in so many parks, I can't even go to the park with my kids and dog at the same time. They are now banned from the farmers market too! I stood outside the civic center park with our dog, while my children played on the playground! I have been screamed at (by an elderly woman) for walking through the beach park, when, no I hadn't noticed that they weren't allowed. I have a dilemma if I take my dog to the dog park, and then want to take my kids over to the playground. Where is the dog to go? In the car on a hot summer day? Thanks Edmonds. Second, while I was standing outside the civic center playground, there was poop everywhere! And when we returned from the tree lighting ceremony, my son had poop all over his shoes. So no. I don't think the poop is getting picked up.

I totally agree...too many restrictions. I think the doggie poop bag dispensers are wonderful and would love to see more of them! I know the off leash dog beach is popular but I would like to walk along the beach with my dog without being approached by so many dogs off their leashes. Most of us dog owners that walk their dogs regularly are responsible and try to be considerate of others. Too many haters out there....
