Arnold Senior Center Offers November Events, Will Close for Thanksgiving

Seniors can enjoy learning about recycling, a singalong, visiting with a pet and more.

The offers a variety of events for November that include free back, neck and hand massages. Note the center will be closed Nov. 23 through Nov. 25 for a county service reduction day and the Thanksgiving holiday.

  • Kelly Mackall from the Anne Arundel County Recycling Division will be at the center at 11 a.m. Nov. 9 to speak about ways to recycle.

  • Bill Sharkey, a retired county music teacher, will present a singalong, from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Nov. 9. The program is open to the public.

  • Volunteer Sherry Baltz will bring Chopper, a 7-year-old boxer to visit from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 9. 

  • See Secretariat, which chronicles the life of a racehorse, from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 15. The cost is $2 per person and includes the movie, popcorn, snacks and drinks. Sign up by Nov. 10.

  • Sign up by Nov. 9 for the luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 16.

  • Zinda Wienke, a healing touch certified practitioner, will visit the center from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 18, to share the history and benefits of healing touch. Sign up by Nov. 10 for for a healing touch session.

  • Bonnie Pavlak will offer 10-minute back, neck and hand massage from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 21 for free. They will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

  • Sheryl Hoehner, a licensed dietitian-nutritionist, will speak from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 28. The program is open to the public.
