Arnold Senior Center Gears Up for October Events

Seniors can enjoy exhibits by the Miniature Club, movies, bowling, a Halloween party and more this month.

The recently announced a variety of events planned for October, ranging from a month-long exhibit to a festive party at the end of the month to celebrate Halloween.

  • Annapolis Inch By Inch Miniature Club Exhibit
    Club members will exhibit their work all month long in the front lobby at the center, which is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • At the Movies
    See The King's Speech on Oct. 13 from noon to 2 p.m. for just $2 per person (includes movie, popcorn, snacks and drinks). Register by Oct. 10.
  • Ask the Undertaker: Leave Nothing to Chance
    Ryan Helfenbein of Lasting Tributes, Cremation and Funeral Care will speak on Oct. 12 from 10 to 11 a.m. The free program will address questions regarding pre-planning of funeral arrangements.
  • Senior Fun Day at Severna Park Lanes
    Oct. 24 is free Senior Fun Day at the Severna Park Lanes from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. when center members can enjoy bowling two complimentary games, free shoe rental, and refreshments. Note that limited transportation is available. Register by Oct. 17.
  • Virtual Travels with Gabby
    On Oct. 18, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., a local high school student named Gabby Klobucar will present a virtual tour of Zambia, Africa. Register by Oct. 14.
  • Donate to the Flea Market
    Donations for the flea market are being accepted until Oct. 17: jewelry, household items, Christmas decorations, exercise and sport equipment, kitchen items, books, paintings, arts and crafts supplies, decorative goods, toys, games, china and glassware. No shoes or clothing will be accepted. Volunteers are needed in advance of the event that will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 20 and 21. To volunteer, see a staff member at the center.
  • Fall Show by the Pascal Go-Getters
    Members of the Pascal Senior Activity Center in Glen Burnie will present a fall show from 1 to 2 p.m. on Oct. 26 with singing, dancing and comedy.
  • Halloween Party
    Jed Duvall will perform as Elvis at a Halloween Party at 1 p.m. Oct. 31 and members are encouraged to wear costumes and enjoy special treats.
