Broadneck Assistant Principal Explores Bay Tugboats in New Book

The local high school official recently published a history book.

Broadneck High School's assistant principal Bill Eggert has published a book chronicling the stories and personalities of the Chesapeake Bay's most famous tugboats.

The book, titled Gentlemen of the Harbor: Stories of Chesapeake Bay Tugboats and Crews, was published in April.

Before he came to Broadneck to help administrate the school, Eggert, also a captain himself, spent 20 years working in Baltimore Harbor, running charter boats and water taxis—dodging tugboats and guiding huge cargo ships and tankers in and out of the industrial port, watching tugs tow barges with everything from coal to sugar.

The book can be purchased online for $19.95 at its website.
