A student who died while surfing in 2009 will be honored with a playground dedication in his name. The playground will be attached to a new daycare center where the owner's son was a close friend of J.T. Sackett.

At Wednesday night's board meeting, middle school students voiced their opinions about how challenged they feel in some of their honors-level classes. Some said there had been increased cheating in classes.

A local author has set a date for later this year to publish her collection of Arnold's history. Alberta Stornetta has been gathering history on the area for the past seven years. She's about to put all that data in a new book, due out in December.

Broadneck High School alumnus Matthew Centrowitz, 22, recently went pro and will be competing with some of the best in the sport. The games will be held in New York.

Of three boaters who went overboard in a boating accident in December, only one survived. The accident occurred near Sandy Point lighthouse off the coast of the Broadneck peninsula. On Monday, the body of the missing boater was found, and identified as Tyler Cordrey, 25, of Eden.
