Get Out – Weekend of June 4-5

Shopping, food, and activities for a cause happening this weekend in our area.

It is yard sale mania this weekend as Anne Arundel Community College, along with the Arnold Christian Academy, College Parkway Baptist Church and Gloria Dei! Lutheran Church, sponsors its annual yard sale/flea market on Saturday. Times for each are:

  • AACC – 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – West Campus Drive off Route 2, Parking lot F;
  • College Parkway Baptist Church – 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. – 301 College Parkway;
  • Arnold Christian Academy (New Covenant Church) – 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Jones Station and College Parkway;
  • Gloria Dei! Lutheran Church – 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – 461 College Parkway.

 2)  Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis

When/Where:  Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.

Why Go: Join many Broadneck residents in this fundraiser where all donations help fund research to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

Price:  Donations requested. 

3)  Broadneck BAYS BBQ 

When/Where:  Saturday, 3 to 11 p.m., Broadneck Elks Lodge.

Why Go: The event features a live DJ, games, raffle, auction items, beer, non-alcoholic drinks and all-you-can-eat pork barbeque, beef and sides catered by the award-winning Firefighting BBQ Team. Children in attendance receive free admission for unlimited food and made-to-order snowballs. Proceeds benefit the Broadneck Area Youth Sports organization.

Price: $45/person, $80/couple, children free.

4)  Annapolis Greek Festival

When/Where:  Today from 11 a.m. unil 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis.

Why Go: This annual festival celebrates Greek culture with food and entertainment today through the weekend. Food offerings include delicious mezes, soulvakia and salads. A children's area will also be provided and local artisans will be selling gifts. Live Entertainment is also available with Greek music and performances by a variety of dance troupes from the Annapolis area.

Price:  Admission is free.

5)  “We Believe” Annual Lacrosse Classic

When/Where:  Saturday, 3 to 8 p.m., Annapolis High School.

Why Go: Top college lacrosse players from more than 24 different colleges play games and provide tutorials. Food, raffle prizes and auction items are available. All the proceeds benefit teens and young adults battling cancer.

Price:  $10.
