Arnold Senior Center Announces May Events

Events include a sit-down with Broadneck's historian and a jazz band.

  • May 4—The ASI and Advisory Council at the Arnold Senior Activity Center are sponsoring a “Spring Fling” fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 4, with fun activities such as a flea market, plant sale, jewelry sale, a 50-50 raffle, book sale and food for sale. It also will kick off the new “Seniors Walk!” walking club at 9:30 a.m. May 4. The route will be along Church Road, with members of the club keeping track of the distances covered. They will receive recognition for reaching milestones. Distances will be marked along the route. Participants also may walk on their own and record their distances. Sign up by May 1 and received a free T-shirt.
  • May 9—Delegate Steve Schuh (R-Gibson Island) will give a legislative wrap-up presentation at 10 a.m. May 9. He’ll discuss the recent session and answer questions from constituents. Call 410-222-1922 for information.
  • May 14—Sign up by May 9 for the Mother’s Day Tea to be held at 1 p.m. May 14. To honor moms, the center will serve tea and assorted goodies. Bring your own teacup and wear your finest hat. Gentlemen are welcome, too. Entertainment will be by harpist Anna Pike.
  • May 18—Alberta Stornetta will conduct interviews with Arnold residents for her book on the history of Arnold at 12:30 p.m. May 18. Anyone wishing to speak with her should make an appointment at the center. Call 410-222-1922.
  • May 25—Closed for county service reduction day.
  • May 28—Closed for Memorial Day.
  • May 30—The Arnold Senior Activity Center will feature Project Natale Jazz Band from 1 to 2 p.m. May 30. The traditional jazz group was founded in 1998 by two brothers. Players are Music Director Joseph F. Natale, upright bass; Lou Natale, drums; Carl Cornwell, tenor sax; and Bob Butta, piano.
