'Walk a Mile in Her Heels' Track Event this Weekend at AACC

A local nonprofit promotes sexual assault awareness and support for victims in a charity walk.

A solidarity walk that seeks to raise awareness of sexual assault victims will take place Saturday around the track at Anne Arundel Community College.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and the third-annual Walk a Mile in Her Heels event this weekend encourages its participants to wear their flashiest shoes as they walk a mile around the track to "show solidarity with victims of sexual assault," according to a press release.

Sponsored by YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, located in Arnold on Ritchie Highway, in the building next to the Post Office, the walking event includes guest speakers and demonstrations before the walk begins Saturday morning.
