What's Open on 2014's First Snow Day?

If you are a county, city of federal employee, you'll likely still have to report to work despite the snow.

Some areas of Anne Arundel County got nearly 5 inches of snowfall overnight Thursday, but that won't stop some from going back to work Friday.

Anne Arundel County Government and Annapolis City Government offices are on a delayed opening, and will start the day at 10 a.m., with a liberal leave policy in place for both governments.

Trash and recycling services are running today despite the snow. A Waste Management representative said that if roads are not passable, then they will return the following day.

The federal government is also open Friday, but workers have been have been granted unscheduled leave or telework, according to the Office of Personnel Management website.

Schools across Anne Arundel County are canceled for Friday. The school system declared a Code Red, meaning only Unit III personnel are required to report for work.Β
