YWCA in Arnold Gets $50K from United Way Grants

A total of $2.7 million in grants was distributed to several organizations in Anne Arundel County.

The United Way of Central Maryland (UWCM) announced today that $2.7 million of grants will be awarded to nonprofits helping the area's poor, with $419,000 being awarded to organizations in Anne Arundel County.

Among the organizations that benefited from the grants are the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, which received $50,000.

"These grants to 71 nonprofit programs across central Maryland allow us to work together toward our overall goal of creating self-sufficient families, stronger communities and a more successful region for us all," said UWCM President and CEO Mark Furst.

Each jurisdiction focused their grants based on the area's need, and many of them focus on assisting  groups educate children of low-income families.
