Broadneck Graduate Wins Annapolis Idol

The first man to win Annapolis Idol crooned his way to a victory Sunday night in the fifth installment of the major fundraiser for the .

Rob Spengler of Severn, a graduate of and a regular voice at karaoke nights at in Annapolis, sang his way into the top three singers out of the 14 finalists who performed at in Parole.

The other two singers in the top three were Amanda Rae Jensen of Churchton and Kaeti Bradley of Arnold.

Spengler said he's never really pursued music as a career, though the victory may change that.

"I don't know," he said shortly after being handed the Annapolis Idol trophy. "We'll find out. I guess the sky's the limit."

During the day, Spengler said he works at the Department of Natural Resources and sometimes bartends at Howl at the Moon in Baltimore for his "fun job." But he said most of his singing takes place at Stan and Joe's.

The event also featured a silent auction as an additional fundraiser for the conflict resolution center. More than 200 people attended the show.

As winner, Spengler was awarded the top prize—a two-hour recording session at LSP Recording Studios, along with a cash prize and a $100 gift certificate to Guitar Center.

Also, Spengler will represent Annapolis Idol at various events throughout the year.
