CTA Offering Broadway Connection Workshop

Keven Quillon, star of Broadway's "Shrek: The Musical" is coming to interact with local aspiring youth actors.

The Children’s Theatre of Annapolis (CTA) has just announced its sponsorship of a new musical theatre workshop featuring Broadway Connection teacher Keven Quillon who is currently on the road with the first National Tour of Shrek:  The Musical.

The workshop will be held on March 26, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Children’s Theatre of Annapolis building, 1661 Bay Head Road in Annapolis. The cost is $100.

This learning opportunity is coordinated through Broadway Connection, a performing arts education company organized to inspire the next generation’s love of musical theatre. Broadway Connection teachers are stars from Broadway tours and productions that share insider information on subjects like the audition process and Broadway trends with aspiring young performers all over the country.

"Keven will teach participants music and choreography," explained Kathleen Ouellette, Education Director for CTA. "He will then offer a question and answer session with them so they can get a much better idea as to what being on Broadway,  on tour, auditioning, and performing every night, and sometimes twice a day, requires. This will be extremely informational and a great opportunity for anyone thinking of going into the performing arts in either music, dance or musical theatre."

In addition to Shrek: The Musical, Quillon has also performed in other Broadway shows such as Grease, Sweet Charity and Saturday Night Fever, as well as The Tony Awards, The Today Show, The Macy's Day Parade, The CBS Thanksgiving Parade, and The Hollywood Christmas Parade.
