Good Friday Service - Selections from "The Atonement"

At its Good Friday Holy Eucharist service on April 6, at 7 p.m., the choirs of St. Margaret’s Church will perform  “Calvary” from The Atonement, a Sacred cantata by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. This will be the first time the piece is performed in this area since 1915. The service is free and open to the public.

Joining in the performance will be members of the Colin Lett Chorale of Baltimore, as well as soloists Benjamin Taylor, baritone; Rayanne Gonzales, Soprano; Sarah Balcom, Mezzo Soprano, and Candace Potts, Contralto.

Taylor, a graduate of Morgan State University, is at the beginning of a brilliant career as a solo artist, having been featured with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and at St. Mary Our Queen. Gonzales is a well-known professional soloist in both classical music and musical theater. She has appeared on Broadway in “Phantom of the Opera” and “In the Heights” and will be appearing soon in “The Music Man” on DC’s Arena Stage.
