Holiday Movies 2010, Part 2
As promised, here is a short run-down of movies arriving just in time for Christmas and New Year's.
As we discussed in part one of our holiday movie preview, this year's holiday season for the silver screen offers some new stories from old favorites to classic stories with some of our favorite stars. Whether it is action or romance or comedy, audiences have a wide variety to choose from at local theaters in the coming days.
How Do You Know (PG-13)

Fans of Oscar-winning writer-director James L. Brooks will be happy to know that after a six-year hiatus he returns to the silver screen, reuniting once again with Jack Nicholson. The story centers on Reese Witherspoon and her chance meeting with an old friend (Paul Rudd) while she is on the outs with current boyfriend (Owen Wilson).

TRON: Legacy (PG)

The previews promise amazing 3-D effects to this sequel of the 1982 movie Tron that once again features star Jeff Bridges. In the storyline, the son enters the world of Tron to find his missing father (Bridges).

Yogi Bear (PG)
Release Date: Dec. 17
With the voices of Dan Aykroyd as Yogi and Justin Timberlake as Boo-Boo, the new live-action comedy promises to be a favorite of younger audiences.

Country Strong (PG-13)
Release Date: Dec. 22
Straight off her live performance at the Country Music Awards, Gwyneth Paltrow stars as a country singer who, after a stay in rehab, tries desperately to make a comeback.
Gulliver's Travels (PG)
Release Date: Dec. 22
Putting Jack Black and 3-D together in a "Gulliver's Travels" spoof will surely spell box office magic this holiday. Black travels to the magical world of Lilliput, where his enormous size gets him into some hilarious trouble.
Little Fockers (PG-13)
Release Date: Dec. 22
In this third installment of the "Focker" family comedies, Ben Stiller and Teri Polo now have little ones to make the family antics even more crazy and out of control. The A-List stars of the past films are back, including Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Barbra Streisand, Blythe Danner, and even Owen Wilson.
Somewhere (R)
Release Date: Dec. 22
Acclaimed director Sofia Coppola presents the story of a Hollywood out-of-control star suddenly forced to take care of his young daughter, played by Elle Fanning who bears a remarkable resemblance to sister Dakota.
True Grit (PG-13)
Release Date: Dec. 22
The amazing directorial team of Joel and Ethan Coen are perhaps the only people in Hollywood willing to take on a remake of the old western John Wayne classic. The flick stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin.
Biutiful (R)
Release Date: Dec. 29
Set in the underworld of Barcelona, Biutiful tells the story of crime boss and father Uxbal (Javier Bardem) who is diagnosed with terminal cancer but will still do anything for his children.
Blue Valentine (NC-17)
Release Date: Dec. 31
Blue Valentine tells the story of a married couple (Ryan Goslin and Michelle Williams) who continuously falls in and out of love over five years.
