'Little Mermaid, Jr.' Auditions Start Saturday at Children's Theater
The next production of CTA will begin in April. Auditions start now.
The next production of the Children's Theatre of Annapolis (CTA) will take audiences under the sea.
Auditions for Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr. will take place from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
CTA recently closed its teen production, Legally Blonde: The Musical, and is now offering younger performers the chance to share their talents. This weekend’s auditions are open to performers ages 8 to 14 looking to take the stage.

There is no fee to audition but all auditioners must be members of CTA. Yearly individual ($10) memberships and family ($25) memberships will be available at auditions, according to a release.
Auditioners are instructed to prepare a song that shows their vocal ability and bring along a CD with the background/instrumental track or sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. Performers will also be asked to learn and perform a short dance routine and read from the script, which will be provided. Wear appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes for the audition. If cast, rehearsals will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday afternoons.
Director Jerry Vess, choreographer Michelle Davy and music director Laura Tayman will be casting for well-known characters such as mermaid Ariel; love interest Prince Eric; nemesis Ursula; pals Flounder and Sebastian; and a variety of mer-folk, sea creatures and landlubbers.
Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr., will run from Friday, April 12, to Sunday, April 21. For tickets or more information about the theatre, please visit Childrenstheatreofannapolis.org or call 410-757-2281.
The Children's Theatre of Annapolis is located at 1661 Bay Head Road in Annapolis 21401, but attracts students from across the region.
