Trick-or-Treating Outside the Neighborhood and Costume Contests

Hit the road in costume and enjoy Halloween-themed events in Broadneck and beyond.

While trick-or-treating in your neighborhood can be a fun family activity, it’s not the only place for kids to dress up and celebrate the holiday. Below is a roundup of Halloween-themed events in the area that are geared for kids. If we missed an event in the community, please add it in the comments section.


Once the kids are dressed to go out this weekend, take and upload photos to be considered for . Just upload a photo of your child, 12 years of age or younger, in his or her Halloween costume. Entries must be submitted by the parent or legal guardian of the child in the photograph. See full contest rules. Submissions must be received before 9 p.m. on Halloween night (Oct. 31). The local winner will be announced on Broadneck Patch next week!


When: 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 29

Come dressed in costume for a Parade of Ghouls at 3 p.m. Highlights include games, moon bounce, arts and crafts, music by WRNR's Alex Cortright and food by The Original Fudge Puppie.
Cost: Adults are free, kids 12 & under: $5 without donation, $2 with two items to donate to Harvest for the Hungry

Trick-or-Treating at the Cape St. Claire Center
When: 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 29
Where: Cape St. Claire Center (with )
Join the annual fun by wearing costumes and visiting stores in the Cape St. Claire Center. will host an open house for families during this event.


When: 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 29
Where: This dance party is for ages 8 to 15 and includes pizza, snacks, drinks and a costume contest.
Cost: $25 at the door

When: 12:30 to 2 p.m. Oct. 30
Where: , Arnold
All funds raised and food donations go to the local charity, SPAN, and event will feature a costume contest (no super scary costumes) and guess-the-candy contest.
Cost: Free


When: 3-6 p.m. Oct. 30
Where: , Annapolis
This event, geared for kids ages 6-12 celebrates William Paca’s 271st birthday. Activities include crafts, games, ghost stories and a ghost tour. There’s also a Halloween costume contest, with four categories: funniest, spookiest, most historic and most original.
Cost: $15 or $12 for members and volunteers

Safe Trick-or-Treating
When: 4-7 p.m. Oct. 31

Take the kids to the mall to trick-or-treat indoors at participating retailers.
