25 Years Young in Broadneck

Local favorite O'Loughlin's prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

O’Loughlin’s restaurant originally opened its doors to Broadneck residents off of Shore Acres Road in July 1986, and the restaurant is officially celebrating their 25th anniversary on Aug. 27.

In July of 2000, the restaurant was moved into the Bay Hills Shopping Center off of College Parkway to replace what was the Blue Channel Inn and have been a fixture in the Broadneck community ever since.

Naming the restaurant after his mother’s maiden name, longtime Broadneck resident and owner Tom Crawford thought it a befitting name that conjured up feelings of family and community, a name he thought suited both the establishment and the area.

In addition to being a family style restaurant, Crawford uses O’Loughlin’s to support the community by hosting events such as the that raises money for researching childhood cancers and contributing to benefits like the Concert of Taste and the Jess Carson Foundation.

Serving a mostly traditional variety of American foods, the menu is sprinkled with a little Irish cuisine, especially with the Wednesday “Irish Night” specials and a bit of Buffalo….New York, that is.

Crawford spent his college years in Buffalo and opened a pizzeria right out of college, so Buffalo wings and carved roast beef on a kimmelweck roll (also known as beef on weck) are staples on the O'Loughlin's menu.

Open during the dinner and evening hours, O’Loughin’s has weekday menu specials as well as trivia on Tuesday nights and acoustic performers on Thursday night at the bar.

The restaurant's 25th anniversary festivities will be held all day long on Sat., Aug. 27. A magician and balloon artist will be available from 5 to 8 p.m. for children. A bagpipe musician will be performing from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and the famous local band The Rovers will be performing from 8 to 11 p.m. Happy hour will start at 4 p.m., while giveaways and raffles will be occurring throughout the day.
