Arnold Resident New CEO of AAMC

Anne Arundel Health System is now under the direction of Arnold resident Victoria W. Bayless.

Bayless took over as chief executive officer of the entire health system, which includes Anne Arundel Medical Center in Parole, on Friday, according to a release from the hospital.

She replaces longtime CEO Martin L. “Chip” Doordan, who recently retired.

Bayless has been president of the health system since 2009 and its chief operating officer since 2006. The Board of Trustees selected her in 2009 to take over for Doordan.

“Tori has a firm grasp on the state of health care and her extensive experience here has her perfectly poised to take on the role of CEO,” George Moran, board chairman, said in a relese. “With the overwhelming support and respect of her colleagues and the community, there is no one better suited to lead this organization into its very bright future.”

According to the release, Bayless has a new vision for the health system that seeks to connect with community partners and provides higher quality care at lower cost.

Adopted before health care reform, Vision 2020 is the product of a yearlong planning effort with trustees, physicians, hospital staff and allied partners and reflects many of the national themes, according to the release.

"We have spent the last decade laying the foundation for a new kind of health system," Bayless said in the release. "While we will continue to grow and offer the critical services people need, we also need to move beyond the walls of the hospital and develop a system of care to help people be as healthy as possible."

Bayless received her bachelor’s of science degree from Tufts University and her master’s in health services administration from The University of Michigan School of Public Health, according to the release. She also holds a certificate in executive leadership from the Georgetown University Center for Professional Development and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Bayless lives in Arnold with her husband Mike and their two children.
