Cravings to Become Blue Rooster Cafe, Offer Dinner in Cape St. Claire

The popular eatery will soon get a new name and dinner offerings under a new manager.

A new spin on an old favorite is coming to Cravings in Cape St. Claire.

The popular breakfast and lunch eatery recently changed managers, and will soon change its name and begin offering a limited dinner menu.

The restaurant’s new manager, Dave Pow, said the new name will be the "Blue Rooster Café." Pow said he has more than 17 years of experience in upscale restaurants that boast millions in sales. But he was looking for something different, which is what brought him to consider purchasing Cravings.

“Really, I just got a great vibe from the place in talking with the former owner. The folks here are loyal, and I was looking for something small, and close to home,” Pow said.

Fresh from making a turkey club on wheat, Pow emerged from the kitchen wearing a blue apron, a small nod to the new name change. When asked why he chose Blue Rooster Cafe, Pow said it was pretty simple.

“Well, I love blues music, and there’s an old Willie Nelson song called Little Red Rooster,” Pow said.

The new manager said he is keeping things mostly the same at Cravings. When he arrived, he found a unique restaurant with a loyal crowd, and he said he saw no need to change that.

However, Pow said he does see an opportunity to enhance the menu. Soon, Pow plans to expand staffing so that he can begin serving family style dinner plates to up to 30 people.

“If this concept gets popular, I would really like to push things here to get up to 30 people in here,” he said. “The menu is going to be small. What I’m thinking is that every night I’ll have one thing for dinner—a fresh entrée and dessert.”

Pow said he’s checking with local officials to see what needs to be done so that he can offer a bring-your-own-wine deal to customers.

Cravings, soon to be the Blue Rooster Café, is located at 1372 Cape St. Claire Rd.  Learn a little more about the eatery at its website http://www.gotoroosters.com/.
