Della & Jane Closing Arnold Shop, Expanding Online

The store is the fifth to close in as many months in Arnold.

Della & Jane, a fashion store in Arnold, is closing its doors Tuesday, but will be expanding its online presence, the store’s owner said.

Closing the store was an emotional decision for Kim Cantoli, but she said she’s excited about the opportunity to dive headfirst into the online vendor space.

“Honestly, I’m happy and more than a little excited about the potential,” said Cantoli. “The online space is growing, and by closing the store, I can afford to offer items for less.”

Cantoli said she will be pushing more merchandise online and taking the store's clothing on the road with "trunk shows," themed parties where women can check out the clothes in person in a fun environment.

The store will officially close Tuesday, and until then there will be a 50 percent off sale on every piece of store merchandise.

Cantoli said her mental gears began spinning for the future of the business once she realized her online sales at the store's website over the holiday season trumped her retail sales.

She opened the store nearly two years ago in the Bay Dale Shopping Center. But since that time, she said traffic into the center has diminished dramatically. Keeping the store open is not financially feasible anymore, she said.

Cantoli’s reason for closing the store was the same as the former owner of the Hallmark store owner Brad McCormack, who closed his shop in February after more than 25 years at the Arnold location.

When Della & Jane closes its doors Tuesday, it will be the fifth business to close in Arnold in as many months. Admiral Cleaners closed in December, Depot Wine and Spirits closed in January, Bay Hills Card and Gifts closed in February, and Shane & Kauffman Salon is scheduled to close this month. It will also be the third shop to leave a vacancy sign in the Bay Dale Shopping Center.

Della & Jane can be found online at its website, or on its Facebook page.
