Della & Jane’s Fashion Flair

New boutique offers apparel, accessories and gifts for women and children.

Officially opening its doors on April 1, Della & Jane is the new fashion store on the Broadneck Peninsula. Located at 1276 Bay Dale Drive, Della & Jane can be found in the Bay Dale Shopping Center between China Garden and George’s restaurants.

Store owner and Arnold resident, Kim Cantoli, has always been involved in fashion, with over 20 years of retail and management experience.

“I’ve always had fashion on my mind and have wanted to open a shop for years. Della & Jane’s is a way for me to cater to our local area with a variety of price points,” Cantoli said.

The inspiration for the store’s name comes from Cantoli’s much loved grandmothers and combines the best of both of their opposite personalities.  Della Alleen Baker, who will celebrate her 103rd birthday this month, is an ultra formal and sophisticated woman who enjoys the finer things in life. Jane Walker McMullin is more of a casual, easygoing and fun-loving woman. Della & Jane offers a bit of both styles.

Cantoli believes in making the shopping experience family friendly. Cantoli’s five-year-old daughter Izzy was a key opinion factor in the setup of a kids’ play area, making sure it had all the right distractions to allow parents to have a less hurried shopping experience.

A kid’s program is currently in the works that will feature books readings and other activities so that parents can shop while the little ones are entertained.

There are also plans for a Girl’s Night Out at the store each week that will focus solely on women.

Being virtually the only apparel store in Broadneck, Della & Jane will offer something for everyone. Some of the unique clothing lines they carry include “Miss Me” trendy women’s jeans, “Splendid Littles” and “Ella Moss” clothing for kids and “Wes’n’Willy” clothes for boys.

Cantoli has been able to incorporate her environmentally concious and charitable beliefs by offering lines of clothing that support charitable organizations through donations with the purchase of their products. She also uses eco-friendly fibers like organic baby clothing utilizing soy bean fibers.

They will also offer the “Magnificent Baby” line of magnetic closure onesies, layette gowns, and bibs. These snap free and stress free baby clothes have recently won awards as the best baby shower gift. And with the next nearest retailer located in Bethesda, you can now get them right here.

Other baby items the business will carry includes soft and cuddly fleece baby blankets by Ambajam, featured in “O” Magazine, and high quality cotton flannel reversible baby blankets by Austrian David Fussenegger.

Accessories are also available, including women’s handbags, sunglasses, and jewelry. Young girls get treated to felt hair clips and headbands by “Pea Soup” and a variety of belts and flip flops.

Della & Jane will be the first East Coast store to carry the hand-made hair clips with Swarovski crystals by Lexi Kate Designs, a product produced and carried only by West Coast stores until now.

Della & Jane’s will soon be taking special orders on dresses for special occasions like proms and weddings. They will carry samples in their store and allow you to custom order various sizes and colors. The store also plans to track orders from the different high schools to avoid young ladies potentially ordering the same dress as others from their school.

Beginning in September, they will also be taking custom orders for sweaters, hats and scarves for the fall and winter seasons.

While the store focuses its apparel and accessories mainly on women and children, men can impress the women in their lives with uniquely special items or a gift card that will give them the option of choosing for themselves.

An official grand opening is being planned for the end of April.

The current store hours are 11:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Monday thru Saturday and 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Della & Jane will be running promotions on their Facebook page, so fans can "like" their page to keep tabs on the store's happenings and events.
