Dentists Buy Back Candy for Troops

Local dentists are buying back Halloween candy and sending care packages to troops.

Now that Halloween is over, if you are staring at piles of candy thinking "I can not let my kids eat all this," there’s a solution for you.

Local dentists are buying back candy from kids and sending it to troops overseas for Operation Gratitude.

Participating dentists send 60,000 holiday care packages overseas, according to their website. Last year, they received and shipped 125 tons of candy.

Kids can bring their leftover candy to a participating dentist and they will either buy it back for $1 a pound or give out "goody bags" with dental hygiene products, coupons from local businesses, and/or entries into a drawing for a special prize.

The closest dentist to the Broadneck area participating in the program is Stewart and Labbe Orthodontics, at 114 Forbes St. in Annapolis.
