Mother's Federal Hill Grille Opening in Arnold

The restaurant slated to open in the former location of Griffin's Grill on Ritchie Highway.

An award-winning neighborhood restaurant and sports bar has made plans to open a location in Arnold this fall.

Mother's Federal Hill Grille, a Baltimore restaurant owned by Dave Rather, will open its second location Arnold on Ritchie Highway at the former Griffin's Grill, The Baltimore Business Journal reported. Griffin's Grill closed in June.

Mother's official Twitter account confirmed the news Wednesday morning.

Rather said he would spend up to $2 million renovating the 6,600-square-foot restaurant and would erect a new 10-foot-by-30-foot LED sign to attract new customers. He told The Baltimore Business Journal he hoped to open the restaurant in the fall.

Mother's is known for its "Purple Patio," which attracts Baltimore Ravens fans on game nights. A gallery of photos from the patio can be seen on Mother's website.

Looking forward to another restaurant and sports bar in Arnold?

Seriously? I don't mind a new restaurant, particularly because it's locally owned, but a 10x30 LED sign? Ugh!

My boyfriend & I live right up the street & plan to check out Mothers this evening for the first time. It looks promising! And for the record...I live in SP and drive past this "huge sign" everyday on my way to & from work, and I was intrigued by it and the sign is ultimately what's leading us there tonight. (The sign looks great!)

Kinda stupid business to put "The Obama Burger" on your menu.. a turkey and gouda burger isnt going to draw any democrats, and will likely reject republicans, like it did with us. Bye bye half your business!
