Is a Replacement to Damon's Grill Coming Soon?

Patch asks readers what they'd like to see move into the Village at Waugh Chapel.

Not long after locals began clamoring for a replacement in the Village at Waugh Chapel in Gambrills. Although it's taken a year to lease the space, an official announcement about a new business could be made soon.

"We are working a lease there, negotiating a lease for that property," said Dicky Darrell, owner of Darrell Development, which oversees the former Damon's location. "Hopefully, it will be signed within 30 days."

Patch will keep you updated with any new information.

Several Damon's Grill locations closed down in the past year after the owner went bankrupt, according to the Restaurant Finance Monitor. The only Damon's restaurant left in Maryland is located in Waldorf.

Do you want to see another sports bar in its place? Should Damon's be replaced by a different style of restaurant?

Post your comment below and let us know what you'd like to see in that space.

I used to love Damon's when they first open'd but in the past few years, the food went down hill and I didnt even know it went out of business... I guess that should be a message to these business on quality of food. I agree with what others said about the Italian Mkt, my 2 experiences were horrible and now sure how they are still in business. I wouldnt mind seeing a Bonefish or something that really has that bar feel and would give the Green Turtle a run for their money but PLZ no Bill Batemans. Either way you slice it, I'll be happy with just good food and good drinks. Anyone try the new Mexican Place that replaced Jaspers? how is it???

Adams Ribs would be a fantastic replacement!! BWW would also be great. I'd vote against Outback or Bill batemans.

Joe's Crab Shack would be great. Haven't been to the one here in MD but went all the time to the one in Louisville. I heard the new Mexican place had good drinks but not so great food. Momma Romas would be great, but that would be right next to Italian Market. They (Momma Romas) could give that new Coal Fire Pizza a run for their money.

Any updates on this? It's been a while with no word. I'd love to see a Miller's Ale House go in that location. It's a chain out of Florida that is rapidly expanding and the food is delicious.

The new Mexican resturant (Ponchos N' Pepes) has good margaritas, but the food is Ho-hum..... Bummer.
