Readers' Choice: Celebrate St. Patrick's Day at O'Loughlin's

Congratulations to O'Loughlin's for earning the best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in town in a vote among Patch readers.

It was a tight race, but won the best place to party on St. Patrick's Day in the Severna Park/Broadneck region for , based on poll votes, comments and reviews. 

restaurant's general manager Tony Izaguirre thanked loyal customers for showing their support.

"To me this shows the dedication of not only the staff here, but our customers that come in daily, once and twice a week," Izaguirre said. "We're in a neighborhood, and we consider ourselves part of the community. We like to make our customers feel like they're our family.

"That's what it's all about for me, and to get accolades like this is basically icing on the cake," he said.

O'Loughlin's will open on St. Patrick's Day at noon and the festivities will continue until 2 a.m. Special events, like a bicycle race combined with a balancing act, keep customers coming back every year, Izaguirre said.

Participants ride a small bicycle while holding a tray with a glass of water in one hand, keeping it balanced as they make their meandering way toward the finish line.

"I'm 6-2 and I get on it and my knees are near by eyeballs," Izaguirre said. "It's pretty funny."

There are also several drink specials, including many beers for $2.50 and Guiness for $4.

Traditional Irish fare such as corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, fish and chips and shepherd's pie will accompany the drinks, and live bagpipe music will also be played throughout the night.

The party's going to be at O'Loughlin's again this year. Will you join in?
